stations of the cross
The season of Lent for 2020 will be one to remember. For most of us, the experience of prayer, fasting and almsgiving has never been so poignant. With the adjustments we have had to make as a human civilisation in response to COVID-19, never before have prayers mattered so much, have life’s little extras been more missed, and the opportunity to be more present in our loved one’s lives so important. An important thing to remember during Lent is something that runs at the core of every Christian – that is – the saving message of Christ’s death and resurrection. As we spiritually journey over Lent with Christ toward Easter Sunday, we are reminded how unconditionally loved we are by God. In the times like we are currently experiencing in the world, we often wonder if God has forgotten us? The reality is that for some of us, maybe we have forgotten God! God never forgets us – he is not the source of the pandemic – he is part of the solution. So during Holy Week, some of the staff at the College took time to complete a special prayer for our students and our community, known as the Stations of the Cross. Through the recount of Christ’s journey toward his crucifixion, we are reminded how much God is willing to sacrifice – his only son – for our sake. The Stations of the Cross help us to see how our sin – the thing that keeps us from being in full relationship with others, ourselves, and with God – is taken away by Jesus’ death and resurrection. It is hoped that this film of our prayers helps others to find that message from the Jesus story. We wish all members of our community a very blessed Easter 2020. |
