Rhett is one of our outstanding Year Eight, Illustration and Graphic Design students; but his artistic talent extends much further than that. Aside from Rhett’s passion for Visual Arts, in particularly, Digital Designs, he also has experience in stand-up comedy and Performing Arts. If that wasn’t enough, Rhett also plays the trombone and is taking piano lessons at Nagle and experimenting with Music Production.
Rhett’s current task is to digitally produce logos and designs that will be printed and then heat pressed onto a t-shirt. This process begins with Rhett’s sketches and ideas being realized and conveyed using Adobe Illustrator, a professional digital designing suite available to Nagle Students and introduced through their Design Graphics course. After Rhett has finalised and edited the images, the designs are printed out using a specialised transfer paper. After the design has been printed, Rhett and his classmates will use the Art Department's heat press to permanently imprint the transfer paper onto the cotton shirt.
Rhett’s design inspiration for the piece comes from a niche web series titled ‘Petscop’ which is based on an obscure PlayStation game developed around 1997. The dark and stylised nature of the narrative and art direction has heavily influenced Rhett’s creative process.
As previously mentioned, Rhett’s creativity and love of self-expression extends beyond his Visual Art; Rhett’s love for comedy in all forms is one of his passions. Rhett’s talent has lead to invitations to perform in Comedy shows, most recently providing stand up comedic relief for a crowd of about 200. For this performance Rhett wrote and starred in his own ‘one man’ comedy show ‘Spin Cycle’, at the 2019 Funtavia Event.
Rhett is currently working on a new comedy show and is planning to incorporate some of his Musical flair into his new shows through his experience in producing music with his piano and trombone. Rhett intends on continuing his shows for as long as he can, and his event schedule and upcoming shows can be found on the Euphorium Creative website.
With the wealth of experience, talent and knowledge Rhett already has, he hopes to continue creating and participating in as many artistic ventures as possible, while also keeping his avenues open and not specialising in one medium. Rhett’s enthusiasm and keenness to learn will see him continue to progress in all aspects of his Art. We eagerly await Rhett’s next project and congratulate him on these marvellous achievements.
