All students have a right to inclusive education. At Nagle Catholic College we can provide, within our mainstream setting, support for students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties.
Our resources include a specialised room, 'The Hub', within the College allowing for students in need of Learning Support to access the resource according to their needs. Usually, students access Learning Support for two periods per week and are provided with general curriculum support and remediation. The focus is for literacy and numeracy skill development, however, an increasing number of students access learning support for additional purposes. Organisational skills and social skills are addressed within this environment too. We have a range of resources and programs including technology to assist students with learning difficulties.

In addition to the Learning Support room, a highly valued team of teacher assistants support teachers and students within regular classrooms, allowing students to meaningfully access the curriculum. Teacher assistants are allocated to classes and work within the class under the direction of the classroom teacher. Students benefit by having the support of a regular teacher assistant attending their classes, providing encouragement and meaningful learning support within the classroom.
Nagle Catholic College has experience with students with disabilities and high support needs. In the Learning Support area, we work collaboratively with families and outside agencies to address the needs of the individual student. Our students with disabilities enjoy a full program aimed at promoting independent living, accessing recreational and physical fitness opportunities and learning how to work through work experience placements. In Year 10 our students with disabilities can enjoy the transition to TAFE by participating in VET courses both on site and at Durack Institute of TAFE.
